A Note from Dr. Brandt
regarding Fluoride:

To The Residents of Ste. Genevieve County:

I would like to clarify the misunderstanding concerning the fluoride issue. Optimal water fluoridation can reduce decay in children’s teeth by as much as 60% and in adults by nearly 35%. This can be a great cost saving method to the people of the community.

Over 300 million people in more than 40 countries worldwide drink fluoridated water.  Fluoridation of public water supplies in the United States was first started in 1948. Since then, more than 10,000 communities have fluoridated their water supplies.

Over 50 years of study and research have shown that fluoridation in optimal levels does not harm people or animals. No scientific study has even proven fluoride harmful.
The American Medical Association, The American Dental Association, The United States Public Health Service, The World Health Organization, The Center for Disease Control, and The National Cancer Institute all support water fluoridation.

Since its inception, fluoridation has undergone a nearly continuous process of re-evaluation.  The verdict of the scientific community is that water fluoridation at the recommended levels provides major dental health benefits without adversely affecting human health or the environment.

Fluoride is a natural occurring element found in soil, water, and seawater. It is not a foreign chemical, but a nutrient for the prevention of disease. Like immunizations and water purification, fluoridation is an important public health measure.

We should give the children within our community the same health benefit that millions of other children have in the United States by fluoridating our water.
